PSALM 23 (NIV)

A psalm of David.


1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Even Though it Doesn't Feel Like it...

... It's Fall!

I was not in the mood to carve pumpkins.  I don't like pumpkin cookies.  I don't like cracking open pumpkin seeds.  I have a two year old...and we know how they can be.  So I decided to buy markers; washable of course.

AH had a great time coloring his pumpkin.  He also helped me color EH's pumpkin.  I tried putting them outside by the front door.  AH wasn't having it.  He brought them right back inside.

Oooohhh! Look what I bought!

Can you imagine how CUTE the boys are going to look wearing these! I think they'll be perfect for Christmas pictures.

On the Mend

AH was in the hospital last week.  Thankfully he is home and doing much better.

Wednesday afternoon he had a slight fever.  I gave him some children's ibuprofen and it seemed to help him feel better.  As the evening wore on, his cough got worse.  He coughed and coughed throughout the night. 

At 5:30am on Thursday morning he had a fever of 102.  I gave him some more ibuprofen and called the pediatrician.  His breathing was rapid and labored.  Poor guy was miserable.

The pediatrician listened to his chest and checked his oxygenation and deemed it necessary for him to go to the emergency room.  The doctor didn't feel comfortable sending us by car because children can take a turn for the worse much quicker than adults.  We hoped in the ambulance and were on our way.

After, listening to his chest/breathing, taking an x-ray, and collecting blood to check for other possibilities, it was determined that he had pneumonia.  We were admitted and AH received i.v. antibiotics and a steroid.  He also was given breathing treatments every four hours.

Friday afternoon he was well enough to come home!  Yay!  He's still on the antibiotics but he's pretty much back to his normal self. 

(Not so) Wordless Wednesday

AH insisted on wearing mismatched shoes to the mall.  Some battles aren't worth fighting
EH gets his picture taken in the same chair every month. He's almost 9 months now.

Talking to a Toddler

This conversation took place in EH's room.  As I was organizing, AH grabbed a bag of diapers and tried to dump them on the floor. 

KRH:  You have a box to play with and the crib bumper to play with.  There's a whole bunch of toys in the living room.  You are not making a big mess.

AH:  Yes, I will make a mess.

Miscellany Monday

*Chemistry

I had the second exam of this semester.  I feel pretty good about it.  I know I didn't get 100%.  I should have spent more time practicing balancing equations.

*Jeans

Now that the weather is cooling down I can wear jeans again!

*Weight

I only have 2 pairs of jeans that fit.  I really need to get serious about weight loss.

*Hark the Herald Angels Sing

I started listening to Christmas music already! Hahah!

*Cards

I'm going to try to make photo Christmas cards myself.  Wish me luck!

It's October --Thursday 13

I'm originally from Pennsylvania which has 4 definite seasons.  Florida pretty much has two seasons; warm and hot.  I look forward to Florida's version of fall anyway.

1.   Cooler weather.  By cooler I mean temperatures in the 80's.
2.   We can open doors and windows and not suffocate.
3.   Fall colors -reds, oranges, browns
4.   Fall wreaths and decorations.
5.   Halloween
6.   Pumpkin patches
7.   Decorating pumpkins
8.   Candy!
9.   Costumes
10. Scary movies on TV
11. Can start wearing jeans again
12.  Hot chocolate or tea
13.  He beginning of the Holiday Season.

Wordless Wednesday

Goodbye, So long, Farewell

Our good old Honda is gone.  We decided it was time to let go of the little green machine.  She made the journey from Nevada to Florida and countless other places in between.  She took many trips and recieved many scratches and dents but she never broke down on us.

Miscellany Monday

*GROSS!
There's a guy in my Chemistry class that dips snuff.  Also known as chewing tobacco.  He spits into a drinking container.  Last week it was a soda bottle this week it's a little milk jug.  It's so gross!

*SMOKERS
I get annoyed with smokers.  I know it's hard to quit smoking but is it hard to properly dispose of the cigarette butts too?  We went to the playground this morning and there were cigarette butts all around.  Aaron went to pick one up!  I quickly told him, " Don't touch that it's yucky.  It'll make you sick." 

*FALL/HALLOWEEN FUN
There are a lot of activities to choose from this month.  Not sure how much the kids will be able to handle.  Or for that matter how much I'll be able to handle.  We're definitely going to a pumpkin patch and Trick-or-Treating at the mall.

*The 3 STOOGES
There are three guys in my Chemistry class.  I call them The Three Stooges.  I know it's not nice to make fund of people but they disturb me.  One is always talking or texting.  One is either sleeping or eating. The other is the one that spits into the container when not talking.   I try really hard to ignore them.  But they are so loud.

Lesson Learned

I was driving to my mother's house with the boys.  On the way I got stuck behind a really slow driver.  I became very impatient...as usual.

In a very loud and agitated voice I said, "Why don't you get out and walk?  It would be faster, STUPID."

AH immediately chimed in, "STUPID!"

Yikes!  I don't want him calling people stupid.  I tried to explain that I had made a mistake and that stupid wasn't a nice word.

For the next 2 minutes he continued, "Stupid, Stupid, Stupid"!  I tried not to laugh and just ignored it.  He became bored/distracted and quit saying it.

Mommy needs to be more carefut.

Thankful Thursday

HEALTH!
AH had some type of stomach bug.  It was awful for the poor guy.  He's doing much better and his appetite has returned.

Both boys are healthy overall.  They haven't had more than the usual colds, "bugs", and earaches.

PRAYER!
I have people praying for me.  I really need it.

SLEEP!
I'm so very thankful for the nights when both boys sleep through the night!

OCTOBER!
The cooler weather is here!  Yay!  I can go outside and not break into a sweat before I get to the car.  It also means lower electric bills since we can open doors and windows.  I'm going to put up the fall wreath and garden flag.  This year we're also going to decorate pumpkins.  I don't feel like carving them so we'll just use markers.

In no Time at All

EH will be a year old.  He's eight months old already!  It's amazing how fast time has gone.  It seems like just yesterday that I was bringing him home for the first time.  He was soo little!  It's hard to believe how little he was.

I need to figure out what to do for EH's first birthday.  It's going to be held at our house and will be family and a few close friends.  We'll have cake and ice cream of course.  I plan to buy a cake from Publix 'cause they always taste good!  Our wedding cake was even made by Publix!

As for the theme, gotta have a theme, I'm going to decide between Blues Clues and Baby Einstein.  AH's first birthday party was Elmo/Sesame Street.

I don't know what meal to serve.  For AH's first birthday we had hot dogs and burgers.  That was in June so it made sense.

Ethan's party will be in January so I'm not sure.  The weather can be unpredictable at that time of the year.  The day EH came home from the hospital it was 70 degrees!  Decisions, decisions

Miscellany Monday

*AH, my toddler, is sick.  Apparently, he caught some kind of little stomach bug.  I'll spare you the gory details!  He is getting better, though.

*EH, my eight month old, wants to teethe on everything but teethers.  He uses my hands, my knee and even my chin.

*I look forward to taking the boys to a pumpkin patch soon.  I think I might get festive t-shirts.
