Some days I think, "I can't do this."

I LOVE my boys.  I LOVE my life.

With that said, some days are rough.  Both boys were up last night.  Both boys were ready to start the day at 7am.  DH is working nights.

Before noon, I did the following:

made breakfast
changed 7 diapers (yes seven!)
Fixed 2 bottles
gave EH his solids
tried to solve the mystery of the dump truck that dumps
put AH in a time out
cleaned the bathroom
put clothes in the dryer
washed dishes including bottles
prepared the bottles
put EH down for a nap
fixed AH lunch
created notes for babysitter
reminded my husband that I have school today

After all of that, the house still looks like crap! 

I'm tired!  When I get tired my patience wears thin really quickly!

Miscellany Monday

*  I didn't do as well on my Chemistry exam as I had hoped. I scored an 87.5 out of 100.  Not too bad but I thought I had done better.

*Today was not the day to show up late to Chem. class.  It was like watching a foreign language channel.  I had no idea what she was talking about.  Office hours and tutoring here I come!

*Why can't people sit in the same seat?  I'm territorial and I don't like change.  Once I claim a seat in class I want to keep it the entire semester. lol.

*EH is not only crawling, he's now pulling himself up to a standing position.

*People are asking me about Christmas already!  Yay!  I love it!

*As of today we are hosting Christmas at my house!

*I want to start an *Etsy* business but I don't know if that's realistic.  Must think and research.

Talking to a Toddler

This typically occurs while driving and we stop at a red light.

AH:  Move

Me:  We have to wait.

two seconds pass

AH:  Move

Me:  We have to wait; the light is red.

three seconds pass

AH:  Move?

Me:  Not yet.  We still have to wait.  It's not our turn.

Five Question Friday

1. If you could speak with a different accent, what would it be (i.e Australian, Scottish)?

Um, I guess British would be nice.  Though sometimes I like the sound of a Jamaican accent.



2. Can you fall asleep anywhere? (i.e floor, couch, deck)

I have fallen asleep on the floor, couch, behind the wheel of a car and on a toilet.  I have to be really, really tired though. 

I think everyone has fallen asleep on the floor or couch.  I fell asleep behind the wheel of a car way back in my partying in the club days.  I was not drunk!  Just very tierd and by myself.  I woke up on the wrong side of the road.  Thankfully no one was coming.  I fell asleep on the toilet after a doctor prescribed Trazodone.  That's some serious medication let me tell you.



3. Do you use public restrooms? If so, do you sit on the toilet?

Yes, I do.  I wipe the seat first and if there's a paper cover I use those too.  The people to hover over the toilet are the ones who spray everywhere and make a mess.



4. If you were stuck in an elevator for 24 hours, what celebrity would you most want to be stuck with?

Ooooh, boy.  I'm gonna say Mark Wahlberg just for his sexiness factor.  I'm not sure if he's interesting or intelligent though.  His sexiness might get old.  I'd take my chances though, lol.



5. Where did you and your significant other go on your 1st date?

We went to Chilli's on New Year's Eve 2003

To beat the heat we often take the boys to a local mall and let them play at the play area. On this particular day, we had the play area to ourselves.

*It's football season.  Let's go Penn State!  I hope they get better.

*My husband is doing the Fantasy Football thing again.  This time he's not obsessed.  I wonder why...

*I have my first Chemistry exam this week.  I feel pretty confident about it.

*I'm ready for cooler weather.  This is, however, Florida so it'll be awhile.

An Inconvenient Truth.....about motherhood

Sometimes I look at my boys and I think,  "Wow!  You fellas are so beautiful and precious.  I am so grateful that you're healthy and happy.  It's amazing that you came from me."

Other times I think,  "SHUT UP already!  Geez-oh-man!  Can I get 2 minutes of peace?!"

Five Question Friday

1. What is the first nightmare you remember?
Well, I don't know if it was the first nightmare but I do remember having a nightmare after watching the movie The Blob.  Does anyone remember that movie?


2. Even if you're not a sports fan, what's your favorite sport to play/watch?
I love to watch synchronized swimming.  I only get to see this during the summer olympics:(  I remember by sister and I trying to be synchronized swimmers in our pool!  Disastrous!


3. If you could pull off one piece of trendy fashion, what would you want it to be (jeggings, hats, thigh high boots, etc.)?
Hmmm, I guess the legging and skinny jeans.  Truth be told, I bought a pair of leggings anyway. I won't really be able to "pull off" the look but in the comfort of my own home, who cares.  Hahaha!

4. Did you make good grades in school?
Yeah, I basically was an A/B student.  I hated algebra or any type of math.  I just barely earned a C in Algebra.

5. What magazines do you subscribe to?
I subscribe to Parents magazine and I also get Parenting but it was free.  I remember when I used to read Cosmo and Glamour.  Not anymore.

FIVE QUESTION FRIDAY!

 



1. Do you feel guilty spending money on yourself?

Unfortunately, yes.  I think all moms do.  I really think long and hard about what to buy myself.  When I put something for me in the cart I usually talk myself out of it.

2. How well do you know your neighbors?

Not well at all.  Which is actually kinda sad.  We're cordial and say hello but I have no idea what their names are. 

When I was a kid, everybody knew everybody.  Most of the people on our road knew my mom and my grandparents. 


3. What age are you looking forward to being?

I have no idea.  I don't have any preconceived notions of what it's like to be one age or another.  I just hope that I'm healthy enough to enjoy my life/family no matter what age I am.


4. Do you get excited when the mail comes? Why?

YES, YES, YES!  I have loved getting mail since I was a child.  I'm not exactly sure why.  Maybe it's the possibility of getting something good; a surprise perhaps. 

My grandfather owned his own business and he would get lots of mail.  I loved getting his mail even though it wasn't for me.  I also love taking the mail to the mailbox and putting the flag up.  ha,ha.


5. What is your earliest childhood memory?

My earliest childhood memory is of my mom being pregnant with my sister.  I remember her belly sticking out.  I remember that my Dad wanted a boy so I wanted a boy too.  I even remember the night that my mom went into labor.

Thankful on a Thursday

30.  Both of my boys are napping right now; at the same time!

31.  We made it to and from MOPS without any meltdowns, blow-outs or spit-up.

33.  My Chemistry teacher has generous office hours.  I will use them!

34.  DH is helpful.  He takes the boys to the mall/playground/park so I can de-stress/study.

Finders Keepers

Wall to wall clothes, books, toys, etc.

We all know the rhyme, "Finder's keepers losers weepers", right?  Well, I'm definitely a finder. 

I am so grateful for consignment shops and sales.  Twice a year in Jacksonville, Finders Keepers, hosts a huge sale of Children's clothes, toys, books, etc.  Folks from all across the city bring gently used items to this event.

I was unable to attend the spring sale because I wasn't up to it after having EH.  I did, however, add their site to my favorites.  I was not going to miss the event again.

I am pretty certain that the boys are all set when it comes to shirts for winter.  I didn't buy any pants because I have no idea what size pants AH will be wearing in January.  Shirts are a little easier to deal with if they're a little big.  I have pants that AH wore that are in like new condition so EH will wear those.

I think I'll only have to buy socks and shoes for AH.  I didn't see any shoes in AH's size so we'll have to get them later.

Gossip

I no that one shouldn't gossip but I get caught up in celebrity gossip.  Who's getting married?  Who's getting divorced?  Who got arrested?  I have TMZ on my DVR.  I can't scroll past a celebrity headline on the web.  I browse through the gossip mags while waiting in check-out lines.

Home Sweet Home

There are some little improvements that I'd like to make.  I'd really like to decorate our master bedroom.  It's kinda bland.  When we moved in here, we painted the walls and put the furniture in place.  Not much else has changed since. 

Clutter

I can't seem to conquer it.  It's everywhere.  Stuff, Stuff, Stuff.  Every room has too much stuff.

Palin
I like the name Bristol.  We don't plan on having any more children but I really like that name.

The teacher for my Chemistry class seems really patient and helpful.  She's not the type who will try to make your life miserable.

28.  Transitions
AH and EH have been transitioned into their own rooms.  It went amazingly well!  I think change is harder on me than them.  In fact, when I moved EH out of our room and into his own room, I felt a little lonely.  Lol.

29.  Consignment Shops
There's a really big consignment event coming up soon.  Kids grow so much it's nice to save some money.

Hurricane Season - Thursday 13

Having been born in PA, I grew up worrying about snow storms, ice, and sleet.  Every fall we would get ready for winter by buying snow tires, bags of salt and sand, ice scrapers, boots and winter coats.  After moving to Florida I no longer had to deal with prepping for winter.   Instead, we have to worry about Hurricane Season.

The first year that I was in Florida a hurricane came into the gulf and I was terrified.  I did what the weather men advised.  I filled the bathtubs with water, gathered flash lights and candles, and paid close attention to the forecasts to find out how bad it was going to get.

Now I've been lulled into a state of apathy.  Every year the weather men/women predict end-of-the-world storm seasons.  People outside of the hurricane prone states wonder why some don't evacuate.  Well, many Floridians wait til the last minute,  or even try to ride out the storm, because of the weather men/women.

It is not uncommon for a weather forecaster to act as though the apocalypse is about to begin every afternoon beginning June 1.  I remember one afternoon the local weather guy was going on and on about a devastating storm.  As it turns out it was just a typical afternoon thunderstorm in Florida.  No buildings collapsed, trees were not uprooted and everybody was safe.  I think the weatherman was a little disappointed.  This type of panic-stricken-fear-mongering happens all.  the.  time.  It's like the story of The Boy who Cried Wolf.  We, the towns people, no longer believe the hype.

Now that I have two adorable little boys to protect I am beginning to humor the weather man and pay closer attention.  I've been watching the news and I even picked up a copy of the local Hurricane Preparedness Guide.  According to this guide I need some very important items should we be faced with a hurricane.

1.    Water - 1 gallon per person per day for 3 to 5 days
2.    Weather radio
3.    Batteries for the flashlights
4.    Cash - we usually use debit cards
5.    Bleach
6.    Baby food
7.    Formula
8.    Matches or lighters
9.    Work gloves
10.  Rope and or duct tape
11.  Copies of important documents
12.  Insect repellent
13.  Plywood - to board windows.
